From May 28 to May 30, 2026, the First International Scientific and Practical Conference “Engineering of Computer and Electronic Systems” (ECES-2026) took place in Ivano-Frankivsk at the “Smerichka” sports and recreation camp in Mykulychyn village. The event was organized by the Department of Computer Engineering and Electronics of the Faculty of Physics and Technology at Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University.
The conference was opened with welcoming remarks by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Vitalii Shkromyda and Head of the Department of Computer Engineering and Electronics Ruslan Zapukhliak. The event was held in a hybrid format, with remote participants joining via Google Meet.
During the plenary sessions, participants presented research findings and discussed current issues in the following areas: computer systems engineering, electronic systems engineering, modern trends in the industry, and challenges related to improving the quality of professional training.
As part of the conference program, a special presentation event entitled “Laser Technologies and Photonics in Ukraine: From Science to Innovation” was held. Participants were introduced to the LASER-PRO – “Excellent Laser Technologies for the Sustainable Prosperity of Europe” project from Lviv Polytechnic National University. Information was also presented on Laser Technologies in Ukraine – 2025: The Sectoral Overview of Ukrainian Facilities, as well as the LASER-PRO Open Call, which provides financial support for companies developing advanced laser innovations.
Within the framework of the conference, participants also discussed the draft Higher Education Standard for the first (Bachelor’s) level in specialty G5 Electronics, Electronic Communications, Instrumentation Engineering, and Radio Engineering.
The main objective of the event was to discuss priority directions for scientific and technological development in the field and to strengthen cooperation among education, science, and industry. As a result of the conference, prospects for further scientific collaboration were outlined.
